Impact of Severe Weather Events on Health and Economy in U.S.A (1950-2011)
This report analyzes the impact of storms and other severe weather events on health and economy in USA. The data used comes from U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s (NOAA) storm database. The data spans almost six decades, from 1950-2011. We analayze the data to find the severe weather events that affect the most number of people and those that cause the highest loss to economy. In the analysis that follows we show that Tornadoes cause, by far, the highest damage to health, while Hurricanes and Typhoons cause most damage to economy.
