Australia's gambling losses reached a record $32.2 billion in 2023–24. This data story explores who profits from gambling and who bears its costs. Through five visualisations, the analysis shows that gaming machines remain the dominant source of gambling expenditure, communities with greater access to poker machines experience higher losses, governments collect billions in gambling revenue, and disadvantaged communities face the greatest financial burden.
