Eagle View Group - Insights from Web Scraping UK Car Data This project, conducted by the Eagle View Group, focused on web scraping car listings from UK websites The AA and Cinch. After verifying that web scraping was permitted on both platforms, we extracted valuable data to analyze trends in the used car market. Our exploration revealed several key insights: Yearly Trends: A steady growth in car listings was observed between 2018 and 2024, peaking in 2024, followed by a sharp decline in 2025. Transmission Types: Automatic transmissions dominated the dataset, with Manual and Semiauto trailing behind, and hybrid options being far less common. Popular Models: The Nissan Qashqai topped the list as the most-listed car, followed by Nissan Juke and Audi Q2, indicating strong market preferences for these brands. Price Trends Over Time: Median car prices consistently hovered around £20,000, with most prices falling within £10,000–30,000, showing typical market behavior with occasional high-value outliers. Mileage Insights: Median mileage was approximately 25,000 miles, with vehicles from specific years, such as 2015, showing higher usage variability, potentially reflecting trends in vehicle lifecycle or market demands Fuel Types and Pricing: Petrol Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV) vehicles had the highest median prices, while Diesel and Electric cars displayed wider variations, highlighting differences in fuel type impacts on pricing. Price vs. Mileage Relationship: A clear negative correlation was observed, with prices decreasing as mileage increased across all fuel types. Electric cars showed tighter clusters compared to Diesel and Petrol vehicles, reflecting consistent pricing within this category. This analysis offers valuable insights into the UK’s used car market, showcasing trends in pricing, mileage, and popular preferences. By leveraging web scraping techniques, the Eagle View Group provided an efficient way to gather actionable data.
