This analysis examines the relationship between state-level firearm legislation and firearm mortality rates across all 50 U.S. states, using CDC National Center for Health Statistics mortality data (2024) and the RAND State Firearm Law Database v6.0. A law strictness score was constructed for each state by calculating the difference between active restrictive and permissive firearm laws, then categorized into Strict, Moderate, and Lenient tiers. Four visualizations were produced — a choropleth map of law restrictiveness, a choropleth map of firearm mortality, a scatter plot examining the correlation between law strictness and death rate, and a lollipop chart ranking all 50 states by mortality — collectively revealing that states with stricter firearm legislation tend to report significantly lower firearm death rates per 100,000 residents.
