This analysis examines macroeconomic determinants of FDI inflows in six emerging markets (China, India, Brazil, Mexico, Indonesia, Thailand) from 1990-2023.

This analysis was conducted as a policy-style quantitative assessment of China’s long-run growth drivers using publicly available macroeconomic data (Penn World Table and World Bank). The objective is to identify which factor—capital, labor, or productivity—best explains China’s post-2008 slowdown, and what institutional mechanisms may underlie it.
