QS Sleep, Exercise and Food
QS SLEEP, FOOD AND EXERCISE ROUTINE FOR DESIRE AHEZA Summary This is a summary report about Quantified Self(QS), I am presenting data about my Sleep, Exercise and Food routines. QS is a movement that’s help people to use self-collected data in advancing health and generally improving the way they live. In this study I have visualized data collected using my Fitbit, home menu, food payment receipts, payment cards records and my treadmill. Collected were saved in comma separated(csv) file. After analyzing data, I have used R to build a dashboard available here. The objectives of this study is to get a better understanding of some of my routines, visualizing data about myself and answer the following questions: i. What kind of food do I like to eat? ii. On Average, how many miles, do I run? iii. How much Fat do I consume? iv. How many calories do I burn generally v. Do I make the same number of steps every months? Data Collection I have collected data using various means. In the beginning, I have downloaded data captured using my Fitbit device. Fitbit device store information like activities such as steps, floors, distance, calories burned… and then sleep like sleep quality, time spent sleeping and then Foods… All capture is saved on cloud and is available on user’s dashboard for future use. To access the data I did the following: 1. Browse to fitbit.com, click the gear icon 2. Click settings and then Data Export, 3. Choose the time period and type of data to export and finally chose file type and download. Some of my Food data were logged in Fitbit and other weren’t. However I had to check my receipts and bank records to know which food I bought and when. Data Visualization To visualize data I have used Bubble chart to show the relationship between the minute I sleep and then number of miles I run on my treadmill i.e. Distance per day has been used, with this plot it is possible to visualize how I sleep and run on given day of the week in general. I have used a line, and column chart for comparison, to compare dates and calories burned, and to compare which kind of food I consume much more frequently. A pie chart has been used to visualize what kind of fat that compose the food I usually eat. Conclusion After conducting these research, I could tell that I skip breakfast very often! I consume to much snacks, I usually fruits and vegetable plus I don’t drink beer very often. I consume 54.8% Low Fat Food. I usually do the same number of steps on daily basis as I leave home with my car and park nearly in the same parking lot every day, with an exception of October 2017, when I was in New York and I had to walk to catch the bus or the train. I could also tell that on average I run 2 miles a day. On an average I tend to burn 1000 calories every day.
