Homeownership Rates: Plotly
One measure that assesses the strength of the housing market is homeownership rates, which can be defined as the proportion of all households in the nation that are owner-occupied. The U.S. Census Bureau has measured homeownership rates since 1965. While homeownership rates have increased steadily until 2004, the began falling prior to the beginning of the Great Recession. In 2016, the trend has begun to increase again, but current rates are on par with those in 1965-1966.

Storm Data: Finding the Most Harmful and Economically Damaging Weather Events
This analysis uses the U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's (NOAA) storm databases to find the most harmful and economically damaging weather events recorded in the data set. The harm caused by an event type is defined as the sum of fatalities and injuries caused by all recorded occurrences by that event. Economic damage per event type is calculated by adding the estimated property and crop damage in US dollars as a result of all recorded occurrences by that event.
